The fold to the middle (A). • Lay each additional fabric on, one at a time, alternating the folding pattern, similar to how you would fold the top of a box, so a different fabric shows from each 1/4 of the square (B-D). • Pin in place, and stitch at 5/8” seam allowance D. all the way around the pillow. • Remove the pins, and zigzag the edges all the way around the pillow (E). • Clip across your corners. • Turn right side out through the folded fabrics, carefully poking your corners into points.
Stitch on this line, leaving a 2” opening on the same edge as the first opening (E). • Lightly fill the center section with batting. • Now, carefully finish machine stitching the inside opening closed. • By hand, (page 18) stitch the outside opening edges closed (F). D. E. F. 31 Girl’s Pillow: • Pin the door hanger ribbon 1/2” from the corners and over the inside pillow stitching. • Cut the narrow bow ribbon in half, and pin it centered over the door hanger ribbon. • Stitch over both ribbons to hold in place.
Press under the short sides, at 1/4” and then again at 1/4”. • Stitch next to the inside fold. • On the other long edge, turn under and press 1/4”, then again 1/2” (A). • Stitch next to the fold to form the ribbon casing. • With washout marking pen, mark a line 2” from the back ribbon casing. • Stitch a very small tuck, 1/8”, on the wrong side of the bonnet, on this line. • Insert 24” ribbon through the back casing, which you will draw up to fit the head (B). • Mark the center of the bonnet front and the center of the ribbon.
