Begin by pressing the angle into the top strip. Open the strip and swipe the crease with the glue stick (Figure 8), then trim off any excess fabric (Figure 9). In this example, I am creating a dark foreground slope over a distant meadow. Now, take the top strip with the glued angle and arrange it over the bo om strip. Glue the top strip in place. When I created the distant green hill in my next example (Figure 10), I glued down the peach and blue sky fabric strips first. I then arranged the green hill strips over them, taking into account the 1⁄4" (6mm) seam allowances so my hillside would line up nicely when I folded and sewed along my dra lines.

Now is the time to get the strip segments sewn together, trimmed and organized. We will do this by creating a foundation out of tear-away stabilizer. We will draw rows with a pen, glue our strips to the rows, fold along the rows and stitch 1⁄4" (6mm) from the edge of the folds. It's not as complicated as it sounds! It's actually easier and more forgiving, and it will go a long way toward keeping your straight rows straight. ) If your pieced angles aren’t quite perfect, no problem. If you have cut your strips less than perfectly, no problem.

If you are just beginning, quilting long, wavy lines across your strips is not only simple but can be the best way to enhance the quilt top.
